Dowley Gap is home to one of those truly odd moments where water flows over water.

We have chosen this as a DNAire Focus Point because this is one of the few places that the River Aire and Leeds Liverpool Canal cross.
The river here is very different to lower down in the DNAire area. Looking down you will see fast flowing water creating pebble shoals whilst the river carves deeper areas of the channel. This provides a huge variety of habitats for fish.
